Am Meer

· This project is inspired by Max Klinger’s etching Am Meer. In a small picture the artist managed to express the sea’s plural appearances. Calm looking and yet strained with waves, it has the singularity of appearing perfectly still while being contantly shaken by internal movements. This series uses this idea and adds an esthætic take on it, based on simplication and abstraction. In front of such a flowing, uncatchable and complex element, the eye and hand give up to realistically represent it and turn it into essential shapes.
